Job Summary

The Behavior Technician II position provides front line treatment to clients ranging from ages 2-21 on the core deficit areas of Autism Spectrum Disorders such as: Language and Communication, Social Skills, Self-Help skills and a variety of other developmental abilities.  Utilizes Applied Behavior Analysis therapy techniques as directed, documents progress and is an active participant in team meetings, if applicable.  Assists the Senior Staff during team meetings and conducts administrative work as directed. 


Essential Functions:

  1. Exhibits a positive attitude.
  2. Follows and abides by APA ethical guidelines.
  3. Complies with confidentiality and HIPPA laws and regulations, training yearly.
  4. Adheres to mandated reporting regulations, training yearly.
  5. Follows all Caravel Autism Health policies and procedures.
  6. Implements and follows behavior techniques and programming devised by and under the guidance of Senior and supervisory staff.
  7. Keeps children engaged throughout the session (including downtime).
  8. Attends and actively participates in in-home clinical team meetings to discuss case progress, if applicable.
  9. Implements programs appropriate to current and future needs of the client.
  10. Implements any and all feedback from Supervising staff immediately to ensure quality and consistency across clinical programs and staff.
  11. Maintains professional boundaries with clients and their families, as well as communicating in a professional and objective manner.
  12. Communicates effectively with all CAH staff.
  13. Completes all daily documentation and paperwork necessary, including behavior notes, work time and travel.
  14. Completes company training requirements, including office and field training.
  15. Represents organization and self in a professional manner at all times while working in the family home or alternative therapy setting.
  16. Consistent and regular attendance is a requirement of the position.

Travel RequiredDaily travel to client homes, with use of personal vehicle required. 



Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to a client who exhibits physically aggressive behavior, which can include kicking, pinching, punching, biting, etc.  The employee may have to use appropriate behavior management techniques frequently with a client under such circumstances.  Such response requires agility, quick reflexes, and the ability to use physically evasive movement. The employee will be constantly required to stand, walk, sit, grasp, reach, bend, kneel, crouch and squat.   The employee must be able to independently and repeatedly lift, move and carry objects weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include near, far, and field of vision.  Speech must be spoken in a manner easily understood by others.  This position requires regular and punctual employee presence.



  • Must be a high school graduate/GED equivalent.
  • College coursework in a human services discipline is desirable.
  • At least six months experience working as a Behavior Technician utilizing ABA therapy, with a minimum of two clients.
  • For current CAH employees:
    • History of acceptable performance.
    • Successful completion of ABA Techniques and Behavior Management Trainings
    • Successful completion of one elective CAH training
    • Successful completion of Intro to ASC Training
    • Successful completion of Field Competency
    • Recommendation and approval of Senior, Supervisor, Clinical Director, and Chief Clinical Officer

  • Social interaction skills including pretend and parallel play.
  • Critical thinking skills, with strong analytical abilities.
  • Must display energy and creativity.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships. Must be able to communicate information and ideas by speaking in a way in which others will understand.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work with a variety of children on the autism spectrum at different functioning levels.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and abide by ethical guidelines and policies, including compliance with HIPAA laws and regulations.
  • Able to maintain professional boundaries with clients and their families.
  • Strong work ethic, with the ability to meet scheduling commitments
  • Serve as a mentor to less experienced Behavior Technicians, providing training and coaching as appropriate.
